Artist Bio:

Hello, my name is Abbey Sacks! I am a filmmaker, photographer, and artist who is passionate about storytelling and creativity. My body of work includes music videos, documentary and narrative short films, experimental films, creative portrait photoshoots, commercial work, and more. My films have screened at over sixty film festivals worldwide.

Growing up, I moved around a lot and lived in places such as Illinois, Texas, Singapore, and the Pacific Northwest. As an adult, I have lived in New York as well as Los Angeles where I worked professionally as a filmmaker and photographer.

I have shot and edited  commercial work for companies such as Adidas, Calvin Klein, Microsoft, and Dazed and Confused Magazine. While living in New York, I was a videographer and editor at New York Fashion Week.  I was also the assistant director for a film that screened at the White House with Barack Obama in attendance. This film is called “Hello from Malaysia” and was directed by multidisciplinary artist Kira Bursky.

My films have screened in various settings, including gallery spaces and museums. This includes the Seattle Art Museum Remix and the “21 Minus” exhibition at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. My documentary “Queens” was screened at the Berlin Pride Parade Festival

While doing video editing work, I have edited footage of influencers and celebrities including Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Janelle Monaé, Halle Berry, Victoria Justice, and more.

I would like to thank Interlochen Center for the Arts, California Institute of the Arts, and Western Washington University for giving me the tools, support, and opportunities to hone in on my craft. I would not be who I am today without the teachers who have guided me on my journey. I would also like to thank my family and friends for being there for me, no matter what highs and lows I am going through.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my website, my body of work, and my artist biography. Feel free to reach out to me through email if you would like to connect: abbeysacksart@gmail.com

Art and creativity is very important to me and has always been an outlet to process my emotions and the ups and downs of life. I look forward to seeing where this leads me next.
